In this dream I saw some young men fighting in a ring of sorts. I saw other larger, stronger men or beings throwing punches at the young men. For a while one young man held his own but soon the larger men began to overpower him and he grew weak. At that point he looked up to heaven and prayed for help. Immediately a shaft of light appeared overhead and came down into the ring with him. Some of the light from it fell upon the man as if it were liquid light pouring over and around him. Then the man reached inside the shaft of light and pulled something out of it and returned to the fight.
A little while later the man grew tired again and feeling overwhelmed and weak he looked up to heaven this time with both hands turned upward as if to plead, “Now what?” or “I don’t know what to do!!” “Please, tell me what to do!” Immediately, another shaft of light dropped down from heaven just like before, and stood in front of the man, and some of its light fell on him, and again he reached into the shaft of light. Inside the shaft of light I saw what looked like long, thick ropes all entwined or wrapped around each other, there was also light around them. The young man stood there looking at the ropes inside the shaft of light. As if to instruct him, I thought out loud, “Pull the ropes out!” Immediately, the young man reached into the shaft of light and taking hold of them pulled them out. Somehow I knew that cord of ropes or whatever it was, would help the young man in his battle with the larger, more powerful men who were throwing punches at him.
This was a spiritual dream in which the young men most likely represent Christian believers fighting against wickedness and demonic beings in the world at present. The ‘ring’ represents the arena of life. As in real life, Christians sometimes grow weary battling wickedness, and feeling overwhelmed, they become disheartened by it. They keep fighting against the onslaught of evil but at times feel as though they’re losing the battle. Even ‘young men’ grow weary and faint – Isa 40:30 & 31. The ‘young men’ are strong believers, not children in the Faith, who know how to overcome the evil one with the Word of God – 1 John 2:12-14.
What I believe the dream was showing me, is that at such times the weary Christian is to look up to heaven for help, and he will receive it, as did the man in the dream depicted by the shaft of light which came down from heaven containing provision in it to strengthen and reinvigorate him for the battle. Just standing there looking at the ropes is of no use – you have to grab hold of them and use them in the battle. That part makes me think the ropes could be a picture of the weapons of our warfare which are spiritual, not physical; prayer, the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, etc. – Eph. 6:10 – 20, 2 Cor. 10:4, & Rom 13:12 The night is past, and the day is come; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us clothe ourselves with the weapons of light.
I believe the dream is also saying that the only way Christians can hold their own against wickedness and demonic beings constantly warring against them and their faith, is with help from heaven. I believe the dream was sent as an encouragement. The ‘ropes’ wrapped around each other may also represent the “three-fold cord” spoken of in Scripture which is the Father and Son wrapping themselves around the Christian. Scripture tells us that such a cord “is not easily broken!” [Ecclesiastes 4:12] In other words, we don’t have to, and aren’t expected to stand alone in the battle between good and evil – we find strength in union with strong believers and especially with God – Luke 10:1.
While this dream may have been sent for my benefit primarily, I thought it might also be an encouragement for others feeling battle weary at this point in time, which is why I’ve posted it. May it bless you.
