Tough times tend to temporarily cause a loss of a sense of wellbeing or joy, and when left unchecked, progresses to a point where all hope for a better tomorrow is gone. What on earth, other than death, could be worse than that? Without hope there’s no zest for living, nothing to live for, and no future to plan for. Sometimes, those who have lost hope turn to drugs and/or alcohol to escape their feelings of despair. While drugs and alcohol give temporary relief, the loss of control one may exhibit while on them, only drives despair deeper! But there is an answer for troubled minds in perilous times and His name is JESUS!
Jesus promises to give the believer “a future and hope…..” – Jeremiah 29:11
A Hindrance to Hope & Its Antidote —-
Fear erodes hope like running water erodes rock, and in troublous times there’s always plenty of fear to go around. The antidote for fear is faith in God and His Word.
… What have I to dread, what have I to fear
Leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near
Leaning on the everlasting arms…
Published in 1887 with music by Anthony J. Showalter and lyrics by Showalter and Elisha Hoffman. Showalter was inspired by the phrase in the Book of Deuteronomy 33:27, “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms”.
“They walked over on dry ground” – the Israelites walked through the Red Sea after Moses stretched out his staff over it by faith. What did his act represent? Faith in a miracle working God! Faith always requires us to take some sort of ACTION, passive faith does nothing. As apostle James wrote, “Faith without works is dead” – Jms. 2:20
The dry ground represents the Word of God which is our ”sure foundation.” The only way to get through the “deep waters” of times like we’re experiencing now with the Coronavirus pandemic, is to keep our eyes on God and wield our Sword (the word of God) against all that comes against our Faith and witness. There is NO other savior! No one else, especially not the government, is going to rescue us from this or any other calamity, plague, pandemic, tsunami, earthquake, etc.
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper” [Isa 54:17], that includes ALL kinds of weapons!! Claim this verse against 5G, electromagnetic beams, Wi-fi, biological warfare weaponry such as man made VIRUSES, slander and all sins of the tongue, and even knives and guns! We need to take God’s word seriously; it’s our life line, life jacket, and life boat!
A believer need not fear what’s being put into the air and into the water because God is also in the air we breathe and the water we drink, for God is EVERYWHERE and He protects those who know and love Him! God said, Joh 10:28 and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck (snatch) them out of my hand. Now, that’s real security, not the false sense of security that the wearing of facial masks provides!
God is Omnipresent meaning He is everywhere at the same time, something only He is able to be! Satan will never be omnipresent though he will fool many people into believing that he is by using technology to produce a cheap imitation of it. The Illuminati ‘All-Seeing Eye’ (left) printed on our one-dollar bill doesn’t represent God’s watchful eye but Satan’s attempt to be like God through the use of technology. Satan uses SPY apparatus like satellites and cameras to enable him to SEE in many places at the same time, but he will never be truly Omnipresent the way God is, for that is an attribute which only God possesses. Job 28:24 He looks to the ends of the earth, and sees everything under the heavens. [TLV – Tree of Life Version] Pro 15:3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. [KJV] Pro 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he weighs all his goings. Jer 23:24 Can any hide himself in hiding places that I shall not see him? said the LORD. Do I not fill heaven and earth? said the LORD. Speaking of Jesus – Heb 4:13 Neither is there any created thing that is not manifested in his presence, but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him of whom we speak. [Jubilee Ver]
As you can see, here are 5 witnesses from the Bible declaring that Yahweh (God) can SEE everyone and everything at all times. God always knows what’s going on and they who believe (trust) in Him can rest assured that He never takes His eyes off of them and therefore, they need not fear anything or anyone. They know that their salvation is a done deal, a “sure” thing, “kept” for them in heaven until they will fully possess it – 1Pe 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah! In His great mercy He caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Messiah Yeshua from the dead. 1Pe 1:4 An incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading inheritance has been reserved in heaven for you. 1Pe 1:5 By trusting, you are being protected by God’s power for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. [TLV]
The true disciples of Christ are under the continual watchful care of God, and the inheritance is guarded for them. [Adam Clarke’s Commentary on the Bible]
Beloved of the LORD, you have nothing to fear for God is faithful to preserve those who keep covenant with Him – Deu 7:9 Know, therefore, that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy with those that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations. [Jubilee Ver]
What does it mean to keep covenant with God? A “covenant” is a “pledge” or an “agreement” between two parties to keep or observe specific terms as in “Terms” of a contract. God made several covenants with the Israelites throughout history culminating in the final covenant called the New Covenant which Jesus instituted at the Last Supper just before His death by crucifixion in 33AD. (The scope of these covenants is too large for this article but there are many resources out there that do a great job covering it). For now I’ll just give a short synopsis of the New Covenant that believers in Jesus Christ are under —
Definition of new covenant: a promise of redemption by God to people as individuals rather than as a nation and on the basis of God’s grace rather than a person’s adherence to the law. Christ is … the mediator of a new covenant — Interpreter’s Bible.
The prophet Jeremiah predicted the New Covenant. “The day will come, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. . . . But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day, says the Lord. ‘I will put my law in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people’ (Jeremiah 31:31, 33). Jesus Christ came to fulfill the Law of Moses (Matthew 5:17) and to establish the New Covenant between God and His people. The Old Covenant was written in stone, but the New Covenant is written on our hearts. Entering the New Covenant is made possible only by faith in Christ, who shed His blood to take away the sins of the world (John 1:29). Luke 22:20 relates how Jesus, at the Last Supper, takes the cup and says, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood” (ESV). *Covenants in those days were all ratified or sealed by the sprinkling or shedding of blood.*
The New Covenant is also mentioned in Ezekiel 36:26–27, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” Ezekiel lists several aspects of the New Covenant here: a new heart, a new spirit, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and true holiness. The Mosaic Law could provide none of these things (see Romans 3:20).
If you haven’t yet believed in Christ and received His free gift of salvation (or redemption of sins), may I ask what you’re waiting for? Time is very short and signs are everywhere pointing to the soon return of Christ and of the end of this Age. Ask Jesus to save you from the deceptions of the Devil and of men for He said, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6) Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath eternal life; but he that obeyeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Joh 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.
If you wish to receive Christ right now as your Savior and Lord, repeat the following prayer: “Heavenly Father, I believe your Son Jesus died for the sins of the whole world and that only He can save me – Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Be my Lord and savior for I put all my trust in You now. Thank you for loving me and the world so much that you sent Your only Begotten Son Jesus to die for all mankind.
If you prayed that prayer in faith, God bless you, you’re now a Born Again child of God! The next step you must take is to read God’s Word the Bible every day and like a new born baby craves its mother’s milk so you must crave the Word of God for it will cause you to grow up strong and knowledgeable in God’s ways, and the Truth will set you free from a myriad of men’s opinions about life. You will learn how to defeat the Devil Satan and his temptations as you learn how to wield the Sword of the Spirit, God’s Word. The holy Bible and the Holy Spirit are the Christian’s constant companions and guides through life – consult them before making major decisions and pray for wisdom and understanding (Proverbs 8:1-11). ‘All-prayer’ is another piece of the Christian’s spiritual armor needed to defeat the Devil – Ephesians 6:10-18.
