“Preparing A People In 2020”

Normally I don’t like making predictions or forecasts so I may be stepping out a bit on a limb, but I feel that certain trends are moving us in the following directions –

I believe that 2020 will be a year of unexpected outcomes, a year when the plans of the wicked will be thwarted and overturned by God

I believe we may see miracles like those God performed in days of old

There will be an increase in dreams and visions for the people of God this year to help prepare them for what lies ahead including an influx of new converts who’ll need instruction and nurturance in the faith. As turmoil and fear envelopes the world, desperate people will turn to believers and clergy for answers. Believers in Christ must be ready! – 1Pe 3:15 ….and be ready always to respond to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and reverence. “ready” = heteos (fitness); adjusted, that is, ready: – prepared, (made) ready (-iness, to our hand).

On the negative side, I believe 2020 will be a year of unprecedented attacks on children and the family by Progressives [1] and groups like NAMBLA [2], North American Man/Boy Love Association who have powerful lobbies in Washington ever working to get laws passed that will decriminalize Pedophilia. [3]

I believe it will be a year of intensified attempts to discredit God, the Bible, and bible-believing Christians around the world by those who hate the Light. They will mock, deride and do all in their power to extinguish the Light but the people of God will not be deterred nor discouraged from spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ! These warriors of God will develop ‘eagle eyes’ to see through every stratagem of the Devil’s, and behold the glorious plan of God unfolding before them. Their steps will be ordered of the Lord and will not falter; the holy Remnant of God will stand by Him at all times. In fact, they will grow stronger and emerge victorious from the flames of persecution as did Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from their fiery furnace –

Dan 3:1  Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
Dan 3:2  Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Dan 3:3  Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
Dan 3:4  Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
Dan 3:5  That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
Dan 3:6  And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace
Dan 3:7  Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up –
Dan 3:8  Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
Dan 3:9  They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.
Dan 3:10  Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image
Dan 3:11  And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace
Dan 3:12  There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Dan 3:13  Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.
Dan 3:14  Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
Dan 3:15  Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Dan 3:16  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
Dan 3:17  If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
Dan 3:18  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Dan 3:19  Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
Dan 3:20  And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
Dan 3:21  Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
Dan 3:22  Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
Dan 3:23  And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace
Dan 3:24  Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
Dan 3:25  He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
Dan 3:26  Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire
Dan 3:27  And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
Dan 3:28  Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
Dan 3:29  Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
Dan 3:30  Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

This passage is a sermon in itself but for now let it suffice to say that God is with His faithful ones even in the midst of terrible fiery trials. I doubt the three servants would have passed their test had they not been prepared by faithfully walking with God.

I believe the movement towards a Global economy and a One World religion will keep advancing this year but “fear not little flock” [Luk 12:32] your God has this all well in hand. He’s allowing this to take place in order to separate the true from the false, the real from the fake, and the holy from the profane.

When it looks like the Devil and his hoards are winning, some will “fall away” from the faith, but the Remnant will stand firm with the Lord. This is not a year to be sleeping but to stay awake, be alert. Believers must stay awake (spiritually) if they want to see the miracles happening in every day situations through which God speaks to us. My sensitive, lovely daughter brought this truth home this week through a circumstance which on its surface looked like nothing more than a meaningless, annoying inconvenience. Her husband accidentally locked himself out of his car with the engine running! He had no spare key, neither did she. My daughter called the police and fire departments to no avail, then tried several lock smiths who were likewise no help. Frantically she went to two auto parts stores and found one Slim Jim (lock jimmy) with which her husband was able to unlock his car door. What my sensitive daughter realized from this incident was that they were not PREPARED! She said that though they thought they were prepared this mishap showed her that they were not. She said that God gave her the word, “PREPAREDNESS” as the word of the moment, maybe of the entire year! She got it, she got the message God was speaking to her through an ordinary every day situation. She got the prophetic significance of the message as well in that it wasn’t just for the physical but also for the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of life. Are you ready my friend for what lies ahead? It might be a good idea to spend some time this New Year’s Eve taking personal inventory to see if you’re prepared or not and make a list of those areas where you’re not, then ask God to show you what you need to do in order to get ready.

An example of unpreparedness in the Bible is The Parable of the Ten Virgins —-

Mat 25:1  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Mat 25:2  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Mat 25:3  They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them
Mat 25:4  But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps
Mat 25:5  While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Mat 25:6  And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Mat 25:7  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Mat 25:8  And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out
Mat 25:9  But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Mat 25:10  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Mat 25:11  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Mat 25:12  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Mat 25:13  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

I don’t believe the foolish virgins lost their salvation but lost out on the Wedding Supper of the Lamb because they weren’t PREPARED to go into it, their “lamps” had “gone out” from not having enough “oil” with them. Oil in the Bible is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. God is telling us through this parable that it’s imperative for believers to get filled and stay filled with the Holy Spirit if they’re to be ready for His return, and to handle whatever comes their way in days ahead. A resource you may find helpful is a book entitled: “Whisper, How to Hear the Voice of God” by Mark Batterson in which he details seven ways or methods by which God speaks to us.

A blessed and victorious New Year to the prepared and faithful Remnant of the Lord!

Peculiar & Called Out!

1Pe 2:9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Tit 2:14  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

2Pe 1:3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue

Rev 1:6  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father;

Kings and priests of God are to be “holy.” To be “holy” is to be “separate” from the world because you can’t be of the world and be holy at the same time!

Words of Jesus:

Joh 15:18  If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
Joh 15:19  If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you
Joh 15:20  Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
Joh 15:21  But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

Joh 17:14  I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

1Jn 2:15  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jn 2:16  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world
1Jn 2:17  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Notice, it’s those who actually “DO the will of God” that abide forever, not those who only have good intentions.

1Pe 1:15  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pe 1:16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (ref. Lev. 11:44)

Words of Paul:

1Pe 4:3  For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
1Pe 4:4  Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
1Pe 4:5  Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

Conclusion: The people of Yahweh aren’t supposed to look just like the rest of the world which is preoccupied with many “lusts.” They’re supposed to look, speak, and act UNLIKE the world. They’re supposed to be a “peculiar,” HOLY people, “zealous of good works,” “priests and kings unto God.” Think of it, we’re called to be priests and kings of God! What an honor, and yet, how many take this seriously? How many are willing to give up some or any of the world to obtain the “high calling” of God?

Pressing Towards the Mark

Php 3:14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Php 3:15  Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you

Amen!

Was it easy for Paul or any of the other disciples to follow Christ? Didn’t they all have to give up something to do so? Peter left his fishing career and eventually gave up his life to follow Christ. Paul suffered “many things” for the gospel’s sake. Why is it that the western, modern church believes it doesn’t have to? Corrie Ten Boom, a Dutch woman who ended up in a concentration camp for hiding Jews in Hitler’s Germany, asks that question in her books which I highly recommend.

The Cost of Discipleship

Jesus said:

Luk 14:25  And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
Luk 14:26  If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life alsohe cannot be my disciple
Luk 14:27  And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Luk 14:28  For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Luk 14:29  Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
Luk 14:30  Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

Luk 14:31  Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

Luk 14:32  Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

Luk 14:33  So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

Jesus is saying that being His disciple will cost you EVERYTHING. Yes, people will mock you for being “peculiar” and not joining in with the rest of the world in its excesses. Yes, even members of your own family may turn against you and others may persecute you. That’s the “cost” of truly following Jesus, not just giving Him “lip service.”

Are you “peculiar” or do you speak, think, look, and act just like the world? I don’t mind being “peculiar” or different from the world for Jesus and the gospel’s sake. We can be in the world while not being “of” it.
