Very early this morning as I was worshiping God and praying I started seeing lots of clouds moving rapidly over the earth below. As I continued to pray and worship I got an impression of nations being gathered together against Israel; Gog & Magog came to mind. (Gog & Magog are the names of places in the vast old Islamic Empire which included modern day Iraq, Iran, Libya, Turkey, Syria, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia. I believe they’re also names of ancient demonic SPIRITS or PRINCIPALITIES.) In Brown-Driver-Briggs’ Hebrew Definitions, ‘Gog’ is the prophetic prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and Magog.
When we look at Ezekiel 38:2-3, in it’s proper translation, Gog is referred to as a “chief spirit”. Chief spirits are principalities, like what is told to us in Ephesians 6:12. We find the same type of evil spirit in Daniel 10:13; thus concluding that it is an evil spirit that rules over a territory or group of people. Ezekiel 38:2-3 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,“Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the (chief) prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.
In the Bible, CLOUDS can refer to ANGELS – God’s heavenly hosts, His ARMY (The Church is also part of His Army). Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Jud 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, (hagios as I’ve shown in another post means ‘holy ones’ which usually refers to angels. Some have misinterpreted hagios in Jude to mean the ‘saved’ believers in Christ in support of their Pre-tribulation Rapture theory). By comparing these two verses, it would appear that clouds at least in this instance, refer to the holy ones or ANGELS of the Lord.
Thus, the clouds may be indicating that Yahweh is gathering together His angelic army to fight against these ancient spirits Gog & Magog, and their armies the Islamic nations, who are gathering together to war against Israel [3-4].
In the Greek Septuagint translation of the Bible, Gog is the king of locusts in Amos 7:1. We know these aren’t physical locusts because Proverbs 30:27 says that locusts have no king. Revelation 9:11 describes supernatural locusts, but their leader is the angel Abaddon, or Apollyon, not Gog. A parallel passage in Joel 2 tells us that a supernatural locust army removes Gog’s army, which shows a spiritual battle that manifests in the physical. In other words, a supernatural army of locusts directed by Gog appears to work through a physical human army to come after Israel, but God protects them with his own army of locusts.
Literal locust insects do not have a leader or “king” (Proverbs 30:27). So this very well may be referring to a demon host, indicating that Gog, leading the armies in the Ezekiel 38 & 39 prophecy, will be a demonic being or fallen angel. This seems credible, knowing also that Gog will return 1,000 years later, as seen in John’s vision (Revelation 20:7,8). Furthermore, it is possible (I believe probable) that this demon, “Gog,” will possess or inhabit two different men, over 1,000 years apart, to lead armies against Jerusalem. The first (human) leader will die and be buried (Ezekiel 39:11), while the second one will be devoured from fire coming down from heaven (Revelation 20:9).
Apparently, there are two Gog-Magog wars; one occurring just prior to or at the start of the great tribulation as foretold by the prophet Ezekiel and the other occurring at the close of the Millennium as depicted in Revelation 20 –
Ezekiel indicates that Gog knew that he would lead this battle in “former days.” This is further evidence that Gog is not just a human. Gog is also mentioned at the end of Christ’s millennial reign, when a rebellious Gentile army will come against the Lord in Revelation 20. Gog himself is not in this war, as Revelation 18:2 shows that the area of Babylon will be a prison for all the demons and foul spirits during the Millennium. So if Gog is a demon or evil spirit, he will be among them, since Scripture shows that only Satan gets released to deceive the nations before the second “Gog and Magog War.” In short, Ezekiel 38-39:16 covers one regional event, and Ezekiel 39:17 thru the end of the chapter covers another event on a global scale. It is not uncommon for separate events in prophetic passages to appear written as just one event. There are several passages of Christ’s 1st and 2nd Comings in the Old Testament which show this. (Click here for examples). In this case, Ezekiel 38-39 appears to describe the opening and closing scenes of the Tribulation. (*Bold & colored text added by me for emphasis)
There are those who believe that God is completely finished with Israel and the Jewish people but that’s not what the Scriptures say. They say God still has a remnant who will turn to Yeshua and accept Him as their Savior when their blindness is removed. Rom 11:1-2 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. Rom 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. Rom 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes. For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
Yahweh is saying in these verses that He has a remnant of Jews whose temporary blindness will be removed at a preordained and appointed time. When that time arrives they shall understand that Yeshua, the ‘one whom they pierced,’ is their promised Messiah and the savior of all who receive Him; they will repent and be saved. The Jews were blinded so that the gentiles could get saved and provoke the Jews to jealousy. The Jews were originally CALLED by Yahweh to be a “light to the gentile nations” – Isa 41:8 But thou, Israel, art MY SERVANT, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. (Emphasis mine)
Consider that the Lord who’s doing the talking in this passage, can’t be speaking of Jesus – was Jesus “taken (seized) from the ends of the earth?” No, but the Israelites certainly were.
Isa 41:14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Jacob was never used to refer to Jesus, and Yahweh would never refer to His Son as a WORM! So God is speaking of MEN in this verse, as in the ‘men’ of Israel.
In this passage, I believe that Yahweh God was referring to the actual people of Israel and Jacob whom He chose to be His SERVANT and called to be a light to the gentiles – Isa 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and MY SERVANT whom I have chosen: Isa 43:12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God. As we know, Israel failed at least in part to be that light – to be faithful ‘witnesses’ to the nations that Yahweh is the one and only true God because they turned to worship false gods in the course of time. However God has promised to save a remnant of them in the latter days and since God cannot lie, He will keep that promise, that covenant which He made with their forefathers. Dear reader, do you see that the LORD in Isa 43:10 and 12, calls the Israelite people His SERVANT? It has to be people He’s referring to for He said “there was no strange god among” them. We know that Yeshua could never have worshiped a ‘strange god’ for the true God Yahweh was always His God, and His Father. Read Matthew, Luke, and John for confirmation. Plus, the LORD said they were His “witnesses,” plural not singular. If Jesus was in view as the Servant, wouldn’t Yahweh have said “you are my witness” instead of “ye are my witnesses?”
The coming WAR between Israel and her Islamic neighbors may be the catalyst that will open their eyes to the truth that Yeshua is their Messiah – Zechariah 2:10-13 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the LORD. “Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!”
Notice that Yeshua is speaking when He says, “Then you (Israel) will know that the LORD (Yahweh) of hosts (angels) has sent Me to you. Yeshua (or Jesus) up to this point had been “rejected” by the Jews (Judah) as their Messiah (or savior). Also note that He’s saying He will “AGAIN CHOOSE JERUSALEM” and “take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land!” This hasn’t occurred yet but it will, for the LORD of hosts has spoken, and His word settles every question.
The Jewish remnant that survives the Tribulation will, at that point, recognize that He (Jesus) is their Savior and Lord:
Zechariah 13:9 – “I will bring the one-third through the fire, will refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is My people’; and each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.'”
When all this will happen I can’t say. All of the pieces have to come together first and fit into God’s perfect timing, which they will. In the meantime, those who belong to Yeshua wait expectantly for Him, having purified their hearts, minds, and souls with the washing of the water of His Word and having put to death the sin nature within them by the power of His Spirit – Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
The righteous wear white robes in Heaven to signify their righteousness and how they purified themselves from everything that defiles flesh and spirit while waiting for Yeshua to come and gather His Elect from one end of heaven to the other. – Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; Rev 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. Rev 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
If you’re unsure about your salvation or whether or not you’re ready for Jesus’s return, now would be the time to make sure by turning to Him in sincere sorrow for your sins and receiving Him as your Savior. He’ll forgive your sins and give you a new heart that wants to do right – Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Write me if you have questions or concerns.
God bless you.

Yeshua is the proper Hebrew name of the Messiah or Savior whom Christians call Jesus. Since I’ve witnessed demons fleeing at the name of Jesus, I’m not dogmatic about which version of His name is used. However, Jesus is the Greek version of the name of the Son of God. The King James as well as most modern translations of the Bible use the Greek Jesus instead of Yeshua and inserted ‘God’ and ‘LORD’ in place of Elohim and Yahweh. This causes confusion among people for they don’t know who is actually being spoken of in many instances and assume God and LORD are referring to the same Person, or one is the Father, the other is the Son. To be accurate, God means el-o-heem Plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative: – angels, X exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty. The term LORD means yehôvâh From H1961; (the) self Existent or eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God: – Jehovah, the Lord. Compare H3050, H3069. [Strong’s Definitions]
