It’s 2016 now, and I’m excited about the possibilities of what lies ahead for myself and each of His children this year and beyond. I think it will be a year of fresh, new beginnings, not just rhetorically but actually. There are things, even relationships in my life which are coming to an end (and needed to), and others that are just beginning. Change is sometimes good. I think we have to let go of those things and relations in our lives which haven’t been bearing good fruit in order to make room for the good things God has in store for us. God will uproot and pluck up anything in our lives which hinders us from fulfilling His purposes. I believe this year will also be a time of ‘uprooting’ and ‘replanting’ for some, in order to get them to a place where they’ll be more fruitful and better able to align themselves with God’s purposes in the earth.
For me, and I’m sure for many, it’s a time for reflection on the previous year and my actions throughout and what I could do differently or better perhaps. The future isn’t ours to see but as Christians we can trust our fates to our Father’s good and perfect will. I’m sensing His Presence and loving embrace DESPITE my many faults and failures to measure up to His perfect standard, the Bible. I’m humbled that He’s chosen me to be one of His ambassadors (2 Cor 5:20), having entrusted me, and all who’ve placed their trust in Him, to take His Light to the World. Not an easy task due to strong opposition and continual bombardment of evil from our arch enemy Satan, yet our God has promised that the “gates of Hell shall not prevail” against His Church (Mt 16:18). May we stand firmly upon that truth this year as we’re likely to see an increase of terrorist attacks and persecution of Christians and Christianity world-wide creating a climate of fear, “men’s hearts failing them for fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world” – Luke 21:26. But we who believe need not fear because there’s an army of heavenly hosts around us night and day, Luke 2:13, Ps 91:11.
Let us go forth then into the fray with God as our heavenly, and only, Commander in Chief! The Commander of the Hosts of Heaven, the Sovereign God who sets up kings/kingdoms and uproots them, Jer 45:4 Thus says the LORD: Behold, what I have built I am breaking down, and what I have planted I am plucking up–that is, the whole land. Jer 12:17 But if any nation will not listen, then I will utterly pluck it up and destroy it, declares the LORD. Jer 18:8 and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it.
I can’t help but think there’s a word for America in those Jeremiah verses. America needs a massive Revival and wholehearted return to the moral and spiritual standard of God’s holy Word, if she is to survive the next decade as a sovereign nation. Our enemies are at the gates….who will raise the standard against them? Who will be bold and brave enough to stand for the right? May it be all of us who believe.
God Bless You As You Follow Him ~
